Three Ways IT Departments in Healthcare Can Get Ready for “Medicare for All”
Universal healthcare was formerly considered a pipe dream, but it is becoming more and more likely now that several 2020 candidates have pledged to quickly establish a federally run program on a nationwide scale (or at least a variant of one). A “Medicare for All” plan, endorsed by nearly half of physicians, will have a significant impact on how those providers utilize technology to manage their companies, even though it won’t alter how medicine is practiced. This is especially true for small- and medium-sized providers; big businesses, like Kaiser, have the manpower and resources to completely revamp their IT infrastructure in compliance with a federal mandate; the others will find it more difficult to remain compliant while still operating effectively.
