In a major push to strengthen rural healthcare access, the Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹1,129 crore to build 4,472 Village Health Clinics (VHCs) across the state’s 26 districts. This allocation includes completing 2,309 pending clinic constructions and initiating 2,163 new ones. The effort is part of the wider Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, with more than 80% of the funding coming from central government schemes. The Times of India The plan aims to complete these clinics within a year and further expand by 1,379 additional units under future funding proposals.

Meanwhile, another development focuses on emergency coordination: Uttarakhand is set to get a Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) under approval from the Union Health Ministry. The HEOC is intended to serve as a central hub for managing disasters, disease outbreaks, and other health crises, with positions already sanctioned for roles like public health advisors and data analysts. Officials say this will strengthen the state’s ability to respond swiftly and in a coordinated manner during health emergencies.
