Is Reducing Carbohydrates the Secret to Weight Loss?
As everyone knows, lowering the number on the scale means cutting back on our consumption of bread, spaghetti, and pastries. A recent study found that eating too many carbohydrates, especially complex ones like those found in whole-wheat bread, sweet potatoes, and beans, may make it more difficult to lose weight. According to a recent BMJ study, individuals who were overweight or obese and adhered to low-carb diets (less than 20% of calories) consumed fewer calories, lost more weight, and were better able to maintain their weight reduction than those who followed other higher-carb diets.
