A Dollop of Unfairness Makes the Medicine Go Down

In the pro-Hillary, ethically aware, happy bunnies who pretend to appreciate French wine and opera circles I frequent, the prevalent belief is that income disparity is the second-greatest threat to humanity after the bubonic plague. They elevate Archbishop Paul Krugman to sainthood and adore Pope St. John Paul Piketty. They claim that inequality is not only harmful in and of itself, but it also causes people to become seriously ill. Their premise has always seemed flimsy to me. I once guided them through a mental exercise. I continued, “Imagine going back in time to the Bengal famine.” People were equally starved back then because there was a lot of equality. Due to the marasmus’s effects on muscular atrophy, everyone’s ribcage protruded equally. Because to the protein loss from the kwashiorkor, everyone’s belly bulged.
