High blood pressure during pregnancy is still caused by pre-eclampsia.

Pre-eclampsia is a disorder marked by high blood pressure during pregnancy. However, a recent study indicates that women with this illness also have an increased risk of high blood pressure following childbirth. According to Laura Benschop, MD, “the issue is high blood pressure after pregnancy often goes undiagnosed because many of these women have normal blood pressure readings in the doctor’s office.” “We wanted to find out how frequently high blood pressure occurs in the year following pregnancy in women with pre-eclampsia.”
