Lawmakers in Louisiana vote to outlaw the standard abortion technique.
Following the final legislative adoption of a bill on Tuesday, Louisiana will join the ranks of states that forbid the routinely used second-trimester abortion technique. The governor will sign the law. Rep. Mike Johnson, a Republican from Bossier City, is proposing a bill that would outlaw the practice of dilatation and evacuation, or D&E. The mother will only be spared a “severe health risk” if the treatment is deemed necessary.
