Even when it’s warm outside, most people who use healthcare services typically don’t have the flu at the front of their mind. However, it’s never too early to begin making preparations for the upcoming season for health plans. In a perfect world, vaccinations would take place in the early fall, giving people enough time to develop antibodies before the season really gets going. Designing a flu vaccine program that tackles the low adult vaccination rates in the U.S. is one of the issues health plans face. Flu vaccine season coverage among adults aged 18 and over was 37.1%, 6.2 percentage points lower than coverage during the season.
